For Whom The Bell Tolls: Patterns, Processes and Consequences of Fire-Caused Tree Mortality

Presenter:  Phillip J van Mantgem, USGS Western Ecological Research Center.

Description:  Tree mortality is one of the most important effects of forest fires, influencing important ecosystem services such as forest productivity, wildlife habitat and carbon sequestration. In this webinar participants will learn about the latest research on the mechanisms of fire-caused tree mortality, and how it varies across tree species, sizes and geographic ranges. The larger-scale consequences of fire-caused tree mortality and how these patterns may be changing are also discussed.
