Prescribed Fire Training Exchanges (TREX's) in California 2019

Prescribed Fire Training Exchanges, commonly known as TREX's, provide participants and communities with experience and training on how to plan and implement controlled burns while building stronger local networks of expertise.

September 29- October 5, 2019 CFMC/Yurok Cultural Burn Training Exchange - Weitchpec, CA

Provide prescribed fire training opportunities to local and regional fire practitioners while supporting management of cultural resources. This training will incorporate knowledge from the native tribes of Northern California and develop understanding about their traditional and contemporary use of prescribed fire

October 7-19, 2019 2019 Klamath River TREX / Orleans, CA

This Prescribed Fire Training Exchange provides participants from diverse backgrounds and communities along the Klamath River with experience and training on how to plan and implement controlled burns, protect communities from wildfires, and prepare for managing wildfires for resource benefits.

October 12-14, 19-20, and Nov 1-21 (RX Fire mobilization window), 2019 2019 CAL-TREX Yuba (Nevada county, CA)

Is your organization looking to cooperate with Tribal, State, or Federal organizations to plan or implement professional prescribed fire? Then join us for a dedicated training event that will provide basic wildland fire training, field experience, and when the conditions are ideal - we will implement a prescribed burn. We will integrate Simtable technology, discuss large-scale use of prescribed fire, and build connections to strengthen the prescribed fire network in Nevada and Yuba County.

Nov 1-21, 2019 (RX Fire mobilization window; actual event will be 7 days) 2019 CAL-TREX Butte

Join us for a week in November where you will be immersed in the practice and planning of prescribed fire training and implementation. Accepted participants must be ready to mobilize for a 7-day assignment within the “Mobilization Window”, to burn on private lands and the Plumas National Forest. We will give all participants updates on the expected mobilization dates when accepted to the event, 1 month out, and weekly after October 1.
