Prescribed Fire Training Exchanges (TREX's) in California 2019

Prescribed Fire Training Exchanges, commonly known as TREX's, provide participants and communities with experience and training on how to plan and implement controlled burns while building stronger local networks of expertise.

February 3-9 Yurok Prescribed Fire Training Exchange / Weitchpec, CA

These are target dates—participants must be able to mobilize to Weitchpec on 72 hours’ notice. This TREX will incorporate knowledge from the native tribes of Northern California and develop understanding about their traditional and contemporary use of prescribed fire. Applications are due by January 15.

Outside California:

March 18-29               Women in Fire Prescribed Fire Training Exchange (WTREX) / Tallahassee, FL

Applications are being accepted for the third WTREX, which will be held at the Tall Timbers Research Station. All genders, nationalities and levels of fire experience are welcome. Applications are due by January 4.
